'First dialog' 73 cm x 88 cm, High gloss lacquer, silk gloss lacquer on corrugated cardboard, 2019
Floorpaintings
The Floorpaintings are part of a series former paintings. Nicole Gigatti believes the process is just as important as the artwork itself.
While Gigatti was painting other pieces she consciously put this corrugated cardboard and bubble wrap paper on the floor next to the actual artworks she was creating. This shows her movement around the actual artwork. Since Gigatti works on the floor you can see footsteps, leftovers of tape, nails, and the thick paint revealing the expressive process.
She feels the need to show the quality of the paint itself and the mastering of the movement. This enables her to let go of perfection and embrace imperfection. In that way they become more then an extension and rather individual objects.
